What Is a Doula?
A doula is a trained, non-medical support professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
Doulas work alongside your healthcare team while focusing on you—your comfort, your preferences, your voice, and your overall experience. Support may include helping you prepare for birth and postpartum recovery, exploring your options, developing questions for your healthcare providers, practicing comfort techniques, and providing reassurance during labor and the transition into parenthood.
A doula does not replace your physician, midwife, or nurse and does not diagnose conditions or provide medical treatment. Instead, your doula complements your clinical care by helping you feel informed, supported, heard, and empowered to advocate for your needs and make informed decisions.
At Elite Care Nursing, doula support is centered on compassionate, individualized, and trauma-informed care. Whether you are preparing for birth, navigating labor, adjusting to life with a newborn, or seeking additional support during the postpartum period, our goal is to provide a steady and supportive presence throughout your journey.
Your birth. Your voice. Your choices. Supported every step of the way.
